SEMINARY DAY CELEBRATION
Good Shepherd Seminary, Alkapuri, Baroda celebrated its home day on the 27th of January 2011 with great joy and love. It was a day organized to encourage the youth and promote the priestly and religious vocation in the city of Baroda.
The programme was held at Jesus and Mary Convent auditorium, Baroda. The programme began with a prayer song namely “Prabhuji Hamare”. After that the brothers welcomed the audience with a welcome dance. The chief guest for the evening was Rt. Rev. Bishop Godfrey de Rosario. The Provincial of the Carmelites (OCD), Fr. Rocky V.G. of Gandhinagar, Fr. Vincent Macwan, Bishop's Secretary too graced the occasion with their esteemed presence.
After the welcome dance, Bishop Godfrey de Rosario, the patron of the seminar, lighted the lamp and garlanded the photo of Late Bishop Ignatius Salvador D’souza and paid due respect to the founder of the seminary.
The central attraction of the whole evening show was the English play –“The Count’s Revenge”. It was a suspense story placed in mid 19th century France, when so many duels took place. The brothers did really very well.
After the drama the brothers presented a thrilling bamboo dance. This cultural dance of northern India was creatively remixed to the beat of Michael Jackson’s song “They don’t care about us”.
Fr. Paul D’silva, the Rector of the Seminary, read a very informative yearly report highlighting the life and the spirit of the whole academic year 2010-2011. His speech was accompanied by a well arranged slide show.
At the end of the whole programme Bishop Godfrey thanked all those responsible for the great evening and also encouraged the youth to come forward and be a part of the Royal Priesthood of Jesus in the Diocese of Baroda.
Fr. Pablo Gil, the vice-rector of the seminary expressed his sincere gratitude to all. The programme ended with the Seminary Anthem. After the programme snacks were served to all. It was a wonderful evening and a very inspiring one too.
Brothers Pratik and Anil kept the audience active and caught the attention of all by their catchy words and fun-filled acting.
